A new refrigerant mixture composed of hydrocarbons and hydrofluorocarbon gases (propane/isobutane/R134a).

Author(s) : SHUDEIFAT M. A. al-

Summary

The subject of the research is to develop a mixture of propane, isobutane and R134a gases as an alternative refrigerant for R12 in domestic refrigerators. This research may solve successfully an international environmental problem. The two main alternatives to replace R12 are hydrocarbons (propane/isobutane mixtures) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFC-134a). Propane/isobutane mixtures are used as an alternative refrigerant to replace R12 in Europe and many countries in the world. Other countries still use HFC-134a to replace R12 in domestic refrigerators.
