Summary

ENTIRELY EMPIRICAL CORRELATION, WITHOUT ANY THEORETICAL BASIS, BETWEEN THE MINIMUM FILM BOILING TEMPERATURE, THE NORMAL BOILING POINT AND THE CRITICAL TEMPERATURE OF THE LIQUID, AT LEAST VALID FOR THE 17 LIQUIDS OF DIFFERENT NATURE, INCLUDING ORGANIC, INORGANIC, CRYOGENIC AND LIQUID METALS, TESTED BY THE AUTHORS. THE MINIMUM FILM BOILING TEMPERATURE SEEMS TO BE THE GEOMETRIC MEAN BETWEEN THE NORMAL BOILING POINT AND THE TL TEMPERATURE OF THE LIQUID. THIS SUGGESTS THAT THE MINIMUM FILM BOILING TEMPERATURE MAY BE PRIMARILY DETERMINED BY THE THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF THE LIQUID AND NOT BY THE SURFACE PROPERTIES OR HYDRODYNAMICS OF THE PROBLEM.
