A simple technique for measuring freeze-concentration effects.

Author(s) : WILSON P. W.

Type of article: Article

Summary

A temperature-controlled cell is described which allows the liquid-ice interface to be measured optically as well as allowing for the sampling of solutions near the interface during freezing. This facilitates the determination of freeze-concentration of solutions at low interface velocities while avoiding grain boundary and brine pocket effects.
