Alternative refrigerants for turbocompressors.
[In German. / En allemand.]
Author(s) : HARTMANN K.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The prohibition against CFC-halon substances mandates that no industrial-size refrigerating devices running on either R11 or R12 may be marketed after January 1, 1992. For neither of these thermodynamically efficient refrigerants are there, as yet, comparable substitutes. The report looks at the leading contenders for the role of substitute, surveys the latest developments and discusses ways in which refrigerant loss can be drastically reduced in existing R11 turbocompressors.
