Chiller survey says: 63,700 still may need CFCs in 1996.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Replacing or retrofitting CFC chillers in the USA is lagging badly. It is estimated that after 1995 at least 70,000 chillers will remain dependent on stockpiled or reclaimed R11 or R12 to continue running. This despite publicity and nationwide seminars warning of the complete phaseout of CFCs. ARI are recommending chiller owners to develop an action plan to determine whether to maintain, convert or replace each item of CFC-using plant. ARI predict that even after 1997 about 45,000 CFC chillers will still remain. D.W.H.
