Summary

Description of refrigerating equipment of a large ice cream plant recently commissioned by the company Häagen-Dazs near Arras (France). This plant includes eight compressors of 200 to 500 kilowatts each, divided into two compression stages (low and high pressure), with one of the compressors being able to switch to one or the other circuit. The degree of automation is extremely high and the staff is specially trained according to the level of responsibility. The choice of ammonia seems to be absolutely justified, and the commissioning of this very complicated plant is proceeding normally. Y.G.
