An examination of liquid and gaseous fluorochemicals for foam insulation.

Author(s) : MURPHY J., COSTA J.

Summary

The search for an acceptable fluorochemical blowing agent for foam insulation has turned to 2 to 4 carbon liquid and gaseous hydrofluorocarbons. Liquid hydrofluorocarbons are preferred because of their superior insulating ability, but have the onus of higher cost. The paper focuses on the top two candidates.
