Summary
Recovering and utilizing the cold energy of LNG in an automobile air-conditioning cycle is first put forward in the paper and analysis of the cold energy of LNG was then conducted. A cryogenic multi-stage cold energy recovering system based on various heat exchangers was designed. The experimental results indicate that the cold energy recovered satisfies the cooling needs in automobiles. Thus the automobile does not need a special cooling system, which not only reduces operating costs, but also completely eliminates the ozone depletion caused by leakage of CFC-12. This is significant in terms of energy saving and environmental protection.
