Atmospheric dispersion.

Author(s) : IChemE, EPSC

Type of monograph: Report

Summary

This book is a translation of the report "Atmospheric dispersion, Safety Guideline 6" published by the UIC (Union des Industries Chimiques), June 1995. It provides the vital technical guidance to study the propagation of toxic or flammable clouds resulting from an emission in order to evaluate their consequences. Based on the four parameters of dispersion development (physical properties, chemical properties, the initial dispersion conditions and atmospheric situation), the book explores the mathematical models, ranging in complexity from Gaussian to three dimensional. It also succinctly compares methods of reducing the effects of emission, such as water curtains, foams, tree curtains and controlled ignition.
