Summary

The solutions used were as follows: an ammonium compound, sodium carbonate and sodium hypochlorite. Eggs washed with these solutions were contaminated with an aqueous solution of Salmonella enteriditis. Post-contamination evolution was monitored using counts performed following various incubation periods. The ammonium compound appears to provide the best results.
