Summary
TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF USING A MODIFIED ATMOSPHERE FOR BULK STORAGE OF ICED FISH, AN EXPERIMENTAL HERMETICALLY SEALED CONTAINER WAS BUILT. IT WAS EQUIPPED WITH A GAS REGULATOR AND A GAS-COMPOSITION MEASURING DEVICE. THE SHELF LIFE OF EVISCERATED COD IN ICE WAS INCREASED FROM 13-16 DAYS IN NORMAL ATMOSPHERE, TO 17-30 DAYS (DEPENDING ON THE METHOD USED FOR EVALUATING SHELF LIFE) IN 100% CO2.
