Summary

Through the use of known methods of forming blends with desired properties, a refrigerant called C1 was created, an azeotropic mixture of 2 components: R152a and R600a. The results of studies on its properties are presented ; these results and the tests on household refrigerators carried out by a factory in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, and by two independent laboratories, in Singapore and the United States, show that C1 can replace R12 in household refrigerators. Facilities are being geared up for the production of 300t/year of C1, in order to meet the needs of the Krasnoyarsk factory and other potential uses.
