NOTES THE STIPULATIONS OF THE MONTREAL PROTOCOL SIGNED BY 24 COUNTRIES DESIGNED TO LIMIT THE IMPACT OF CFCS ON THE OZONE LAYER BY REDUCING THE PRODUCTION OF CFCS. REVIEWS THE IMPLICATIONS THESE RESTRICTIONS MAY HAVE FOR BUILDING SERVICES THROUGH THEIREFFECT ON REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING DUE TO HIGHER COSTS OR SHORTAGE OF REFRIGERANTS, THE EFFECT ON RIGID (CLOSED CELL) FOAMED PLASTICS, WHICH ARE EXTENSIVELY USED IN INSULATION MATERIALS AND IN WHICH THE CFC TRAPPED IN THE CLOSED CELL GREATLY ENHANCES ITS THERMAL INSULATION PROPERTIES AND THE POTENTIAL EFFECT ON FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT, PARTICULARLY THE TOTAL FLOODING SYSTEMS FOR WHICH THERE IS CURRENTLY AN EXPANDING MARKET.
