Co-simulation of a heat pump using R744 as the refrigerant.

Author(s) : OTT S., BEBER F.

Summary

Heat pumps using CO2 (R744) are able to provide higher temperatures without significant losses in the COP. Furthermore, the transcritical refrigeration cycle has a gas cooler instead of a condenser which avoids high exergy losses due to large temperature differences during heat rejection. The necessity of simulations to speed up the development process brings focus on Modelica which gives an optimum to create models and cycles. Covering the control systems LabVIEW is used. Therefore the best simulation results can be achieved using a combination of both programs. The TISC-Server can be used for a co-simulation of LabVIEW and Modelica. The TISC-Server organizes the co-simulation setup by managing simulation programs, models, parameter and initialization settings, different simulation computers as well as the IP connections.
