COLD STORAGE OF KIWIFRUIT: CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE AND ETHYLENE REMOVAL.

Summary

THE AUTHORS STUDIED THE EFFECT OF VARIOUS CO2 CONCENTRATIONS: 2, 5, 8, 10 AND 20% (2% O2 ) WITHOUT ETHYLENE ON STORAGE SUITABILITY AND THE OCCURRENCE OF PHYTOTOXIC EFFECT ON KIWIFRUIT. 5% CO2 AND AN ATMOSPHERE WITHOUT ETHYLENE APPEARS TO DELAY RIPENING AND SENESCENCE PROCESSES AT 273 K (0 DEG C) DURING 180 DAYS. CO2 CONCENTRATIONS OF ABOUT 8% CAUSED TOXIC EFFECTS.
