Summary

THE AUTHOR STUDIES THE POSSIBLE COMBINATIONS OF FREEZING-DEEP-FREEZING PROCESSES WITH MECHANICAL AND CRYOGENIC REFRIGERATION. HE SUMMARISES THE DEFINITIONS AND THE MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF BOTH TYPES OF PROCESSES AND HE DISCUSSES THE PERFORMANCE OF A FREEZING SYSTEM (OUTPUT, FREEZING TIME, HOLDING TIME, CAPACITY, REFRIGERATING CAPACITY). HE STUDIES THE DEVELOPMENT WITH TIME OF THE HEAT FLOW EXTRACTED FROM A FREEZING PRODUCT AND DEDUCES THE JUSTIFICATION OF THE POSSIBLE COMBINATIONS OF MECHANICAL AND CRYOGENIC REFRIGERATION (IN SERIES AND IN PARALLEL). A SAMPLE CALCULATION ILLUSTRATES THE APPLICATION. J.R.
