Comparing alternative ice slurry production methods.

Summary

The most popular methods for the production of ice slurry at this moment are the "scraped surface evaporator" and the "vacuum freeze evaporator". Fluidised bed evaporators form an alternative production method with the potential for lower investment levels. In this paper a comparison is made between these three methods. Heat transfer, energy and economic performances are quantified. An evaluation is given of the potential of fluidised bed evaporators.
