Comparison of the firmness and hardness properties of material for liquid hydrogen containers.

[In German. / En allemand.]

Summary

Materials used at present for big containers and vehicle tanks for liquid hydrogen are presented in tables together with corresponding geometric dimensions for each container and tank. It is mentioned that austenic steel and aliuminium alloys were used. The firmness and hardness properties of these two types of material are presented and compared for temperatures from 4 K to ambient temperature. In order to describe the hardness behaviour, the authors refer particularly to breaking point mechanical results. As far as available, the behaviour of solded material in comparison to the basic material are considered.
