Compatibility of precooked meal wrapping and food containers with microwave ovens.
Compatibilité avec les fours à micro-ondes des emballages de plats cuisinés et récipients culinaires.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Packaging materials for precooked meals and food containers treated by microwaves are reviewed. Because of the differences in temperature levels which are reached, distinctions are made between microwave ovens and combined microwave-grill or pulsed air ovens. Desirable features, in particular the use of different materials, are examined: metallic containers (aluminium or steel-based alloys), plastic containers and bags, plastic reinforced cardboard containers, plates and dishes made of plastic, glass, vitroceramic, porcelain, pottery and earthenware.
