Computer assisted modelling of weight loss and energy consumption in a potato cold store.

Summary
The study describes a computer model for calculating energy consumption and moisture loss in a cold store. In the present study, the model uses detailed data such as ambient and store temperature, monthly electricity consumption and tonnage in store from an actual ware or table potato store near Cambridge, United Kingdom. The model considers the whole period from the initial loading and cooling in September/October through to the final unloading the following May/June for two consecutive years. The calculated results were compared with the actual figures.
