Controlled atmosphere storage prior to processing of some canning peach and apricot cultivars in South Africa.

Summary

Controled atmosphere storage is much used for seed fruit, but less for stone fruit. Some attempts to increase the storage life of peaches and apricots before canning have been made in South Africa. The results vary according to species and variety, as well as the composition of the modified atmospheres. The results of experiments carried out with two atmosphere compositions to enhance peach and apricot storage before canning are presented.
