IIR document

Coolstore performance and specifications.

Summary

A study has been made in 10 commercial cold rooms, during several storage seasons, to determine the effects of air temperature, velocity and distribution on kiwifruit. The temperature has been measured at three positions in four pack-types; the ambient temperature has also been measured. Cooling has been conventional. The authors consider the relation between fruit temperature and ambient temperature, air flows, forced-air cooling, and storage in cold rooms. The article gives specifications to ensure correct fruit storage temperatures.
