Summary

A CRYOPRESERVATION PROTOCOL WAS DEVISED FOR IN VITRO FERTILIZED 2 CELL MOUSE EMBRYOS, USING GLYCEROL AS CRYOPROTECTANT, WHICH MINIMISED HANDLING PROCEDURES WHILST AVOIDING OSMOTIC PROBLEMS ATTENDANT UPON GLYCEROL DIFFUSION. COMPARISON WAS MADE BETWEEN IN VIVO AND IN VITRO FERTILIZED OVA USING THIS PROTOCOL, AND NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE WAS FOUND IN THE ABILITY OF EMBRYOS FROM EACH GROUP.
