Summary

Captan residues in the strawberries stored at 5 deg C for three and seven days were significantly reduced to levels 27 to 99 % lower than the ones detected before storage. No reduction of chlorothalonil residues was observed after storage at 5 deg C. The effectiveness of maintaining strawberries at 5 deg C to reduce the contamination by residues of pesticices depends on the chemical structure of the pesticide. This procedure can be considered appropriate for captan.
