Summary

In June 1994, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) set up a working group (WGT8) to write and adapt five protocols: two on Electron Spin Resonance (ESR), two on gas chromatography and one on Thermoluminescence (TL). In June 1994, these five protocols were approved and transformed into "pre-standards" by the CEN. The authors present two potential applications of ESR and TL. In case of aromatic herbs, the relative advantages of ESR and TL are discussed.
