Determination of colligative and specific action of serine on thylakoid membranes during freezing.
Author(s) : POPOVA A. V.
Type of article: Article
Summary
It is shown that the amino acid serine realises a colligative type of protection against freezing of the photochemical activity of PS II in thylakoid membranes up to concentration of 0.2 M. Above this concentration a destabilisation mainly due to a specific interaction with the thylakoid membrane is observed.
