Development of a heat pump based on the principle of reverse rectification.

Author(s) : STOEL H. van der, NIES J.

Summary

The first objective in the research programme was the determination of the technical and economical feasibility. Three case studies in representative sectors of the Dutch industry proved the technical feasibility. Reverse rectification can reach a COP of about 1.4 to 1.6. A clear advantage is the use of other working pairs like glycol/water, which makes it possible to operate at a higher temperature level and to use cheap construction materials. A global cost calculation resulted in a price of USD 300 to 400/kilowatt.
