Summary

Recent studies about the development of GAX (generator, absorber, heat exchanger) ammonia/water absorption heat pump of 3 refrigeration tours cooling capacity is briefly described. The objective of the study is to develop and launch at high performance gas-fired absorption heat pump for residential use into the Korean market. A GAX cycle was adopted for the prototype machine to maximise its cooling performance. The test results showed a cooling cycle COP of 0.64 and heating cycle COP of 1.49. Data from the test were thoroughly analyzed and some conclusions were made. Several modifications will be made in the near future to get higher COP.
