Summary
Although controlled-atmosphere storage is used for apples, the technique has not yet been applied to the commercial storage of vegetables in Japan due to the high storage cost. Two types of modified-air system controlled-atmosphere storage facilities were developed which are economical and can be applied to vegetables. Its construction and operation cost is low, the system consisting of a simple structure with easy maintenance. The facility is described.
