Summary

IN VIETNAM, INDUSTRIAL FREEZING BEGAN IN 1958 IN HAIPHONG. SINCE 1968, VIETNAM HAS EXPORTED FROZEN SEAFOODS. IN SOUTH VIETNAM, A LARGE NUMBER OF COLD STORES WERE BUILT IN 1971-72 AND $ 30 MILLION/YEAR OF FROZEN SEAFOODS (1973, 1974) WERE EXPORTED. AFTER THE WAR (1975) COLD STORES WERE BUILT. THE OVERALL CAPACITY IS 500 TONNES OFFROZEN FOODS PER DAY. THE STORAGE CAPACITY IS 50,000 TONNES OF CHILLED OR FROZEN FOODS AND 2 MILLION TONNES/YEAR OF ICE ARE PRODUCED. IN ADDITION, REFRIGERATION HAS BEEN APPLIED IN MEDICINE, PHARMACEUTICS, VETERINARY MEDICINE, REARING, AGRICULTURE, CHEMISTRY, ETC. THE MANUFACTURE OF REFRIGERATING EQUIPMENT HAS INCREASED.
