Summary

AFTER REMINDING THE INFORMATION AVAILABLE ABOUT THIS SUBJECT-MATTER, THE A. DESCRIBES A NEW METHOD (EXPIMP). THIS METHOD MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO CALCULATE THE LOCATION OF FREEZING FRONT AND THE TEMPERATURE PROFILE QUICKLY. THE RESULTS OBTAINED BY THIS METHOD WERE COMPARED WITH THOSE OF LEES METHOD AND THOSE OF THE EXACT CALCULATION. THE CONCORDANCE IS SATISFACTORY. TWO PRACTICAL EXAMPLES ARE GIVEN: FREEZING OF A CLAY SOIL BEARING AN ASPHALTED PAVEMENT, AND FREEZING OF WATER IN AN ICE MOULD OF HOUSEHOLD REFRIGERATOR. J.G.
