Summary

TWO-CELL MOUSE EMBRYOS WERE FROZEN BY DIRECT PLUNGING INTO LIQUID NITROGENAFTER A 3-MINUTE EXPOSURE TO SOLUTIONS CONTAINING 0.25 M SUCROSE WITH 1.5, 3, OR 4.5 M DMSO, AND 0, 4, 8, 16, OR 32 MG/ML BOVINE SERUM ALBUMIN (BSA). THE SURVIVAL RATE WAS VERY HIGH WITH 3 AND 4.5 M OF DMSO, PROVIDED BSA WAS PRESENT, THEAMOUNT OF WHICH MADE NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE.
