Summary

Experiments were conducted between 1996 and 1998 in Villersdorp and the Robertson area of South Africa. To prevent gel breakdown, fruits harvested at the correct maturity should be stored for the shortest time possible as the disorder increases significantly with storage for more than 3 weeks. Fruits harvested overmature had a storage life of one week in cold storage before severe gel breakdown developed.
