Summary
WHILE CHRONIC COLD EXPOSURE AT 283 K (10 DEG C) CAUSED APPRECIABLE DECREASE IN TOTAL TUMOUR CELL COUNT AND INCREMENT IN HOSTS' LIFE SPAN, INTERMITTENT COLD STRESS OF 283 AND 263 K (-10 DEG C) RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN TOTAL COUNT OF TUMOUR CELLS. FROM THE RESULTS THE DIFFERENTIAL EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT STRESS REGIMES ON PHYSIOLOGICAL FUNCTIONING OF THE HOST, RATHER THAN THE ENVIRONMENTAL TEMPERATURE PER SE, INFLUENCE THE COURSE OF NEOPLASTIC GROWTH.
