Summary

The storage life of 6 grape cultivars grown in Korea Republic, stored at 0 or 25 deg C, was compared. Sheridan and Campbell Early maintained a good appearance and exhibited longer storage lives than the other cultivars; they also exhibited low ethylene production. Calcium (5%) treatment controlled berry abscission, but had some injurious effects on the appearance of Sheridan and Muscat Bailey A grapes. The rate of fruit abscission was reduced significantly when grapes were stored at 0 deg C in the presence of an ethylene scrubber. SO2 fumigation was very effective in reducing decay, which was an important limiting factor in storage life.
