Summary
The efficiency of chlorine and iodophor was tested under in vitro and in situ conditions, for various exposure times. On the whole, iodophor was found to be more effective than sodium hypochlorite, but findings demonstrated that in vitro studies should invariably be repeated under in situ conditions to ensure control of the biofilms prevailing in dairy processing lines.
