Summary

The European legislation on Eco-design and Energy Labelling now requires that commercial and professional refrigeration equipment states their energy consumption, similarly to what has been in place for some years regarding the domestic refrigeration equipment.
In order for such equipment to be marketed in the European area, manufacturers are now required to submit them to temperature and energy consumption tests.

This article describes the laboratory that IEP put in place to meet those new requirements. This laboratory performs tests according to standards EN 16825 and EN ISO 23953-2 and has already been accredited by IPAC, thus becoming the first laboratory in the Iberian Peninsula (and one of the few in Europe) to hold an accreditation for such tests.

With this laboratory, Iberian cold equipment manufacturers now can get a global service for their products approvals, including safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), noise level and energy labelling.
