Enthalpy calculation for a refrigerant/oil mixture: consequences on the evaporator performance working with R407C and POE oil.

Author(s) : YOUBI-IDRISSI M., BONJOUR J., MEUNIER F., et al.

Summary

The work presents a method enabling calculation of the enthalpy for a refrigerant/oil mixture. To generalize this method, the authors consider a refrigerant mixture with a temperature glide (R407C). The suggested method requires knowledge of the liquid-vapour mixture's equilibrium properties (solubility curves) and the oil thermodynamic properties. In an initial application of the model, the In(P)-h-X' diagram for the refrigerant/oil mixture is plotted. The ratios of the enthalpy changes through an evaporator, with and without taking into account the effect of oil, are then compared for several conditions (varying superheat, compression ratio).
