Enthalpy-phase diagrams of aqueous solutions for ice-slurry applications.

Author(s) : MELINDER Å.

Summary

Enthalpy-phase diagrams of a number of aqueous solutions limited to the area of main interest for ice slurry applications are presented. These diagrams contain an enthalpy line connecting the freezing points and lines for a number of isotherms in the liquid area and in the two-phase (liquid-ice) area. However, these enthalpy-phase diagrams include three enthalpy lines connecting the temperatures that correspond to 2.5 and 10 K below the freezing points as well as lines giving the ice concentration. These lines are made as an aid to estimate the heat "transport capability", of these aqueous solutions when used as ice slurry. The paper gives such enthalpy-phase diagrams for water solutions of eight types of aqueous solutions.
