EPA outlines sales restrictions for the purchase of refrigerants.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The USA Environmental Protection Agency has published a resume of the sales restrictions for the purchase of all CFC and HCFC refrigerants which come into force mainly in January 1995. These cover refrigerant contained in cylinders or drums and also in precharged parts of refrigerant systems. Purchasers must be certified technicians or those who can prove that they employ them. Proof of qualified status is advised and wholesalers must keep records of purchasers and the quantity of refrigerant purchased. Complete sealed systems are not covered by the regulations, nor are items such as expansion valves charged with refrigerant thermal charges. D.W.H.
