AFTER DESCRIBING TODAY'S TREND TO USE CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE FOR FRUIT STORAGE IN ITALY, THE PAPER ILLUSTRATES THE NEW EQUIPMENT USED TO INCREASE THE STORAGE ABILITY OF FRUIT. THE FRUIT VARIETIES MOST COMMONLY STORED AT A COMMERCIAL LEVEL AND THE RESULTS OBTAINED FROM USING THE DESCRIBED EQUIPMENT ARE LISTED, FOLLOWED BY THE ADVANTAGES WHICH THE CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE TECHNIQUES MAY BRING TO THE CONSUMERS, AS REGARDS FRUIT QUALITY.
