Summary

ETHYLENE REMOVAL BY VARIOUS TYPES OF WATER SCRUBBERS FITTED IN EXPERIMENTAL AND COMMERCIAL COLD ROOMS IS STUDIED. THE EFFICIENCY OF THESE SCRUBBERS IS BOUND TO THE AIR CYCLE NUMBER/HOUR PASSING THROUGH THE TOWER AND IT IS INDEPENDENT FROM THE SHAPE OF THE SCRUBBER AND FROM THE ETHYLENE CONCENTRATION. MOREOVER, THE MAINTENANCE OF A HIGH LEVEL OF HUMIDITY IN THE COLD ROOM ATMOSPHERE IS SHOWN TO BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE EFFECT ON ETHYLENE REMOVAL.
