Waxing reduced weight loss after 4 and 6 weeks of storage at 3 or 6 deg C and chilling injury at 3 deg C. Waxing did not reduce breakdown caused by bacteria or fungi (largely Alternaria and Fusarium spp.) at 3 deg C.
