Evolution of refrigerants towards mixtures.

Evolution des fluides frigorigènes vers les mélanges.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The physical behaviour of refrigerant mixtures in refrigeration cycles is given. Test results of 2 series of binary mixtures, R22 and R142b, and R22 and R23 are presented, each of the series has been studied for different mass fractions. Calculated measurements are given by comparing them to those of R12 and R500 for the case of a theoretical single-stage cycle without phase separation (single-and two-stage installation diagrams with one, and with two, phase separators are also given). It is proposed that these mixtures be used as drop-in fluids, able to be substituted for, from now on, refrigerants which will soon be banned. This will require some adaptation of the installations until new substitute refrigerants become available. J.R.
