Summary

The paper describes the first experiences of retrofitting a refrigeration plant in developing countries. The retrofitting techniques of refrigerants and foaming agent for insulation foams are studied in detail. The extent of the measures required for the retrofitting are outlined, taking into consideration the example of the use of isobutane as refrigerant and cyclopentane as foaming agent for insulation foams. Finally, the problems of financing the particular costs (USD per kg of replaced CFC) for the replacement of different productions and technologies are discussed.
