Number: 128

Author(s) : POLINSKI J., SLAWINSKI P.

Summary

Recently, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST) in Poland has developed a pressure relief device (PRD) prototype for vacuum jackets to be used in cryogenic devices and systems, which are under the design and to be delivered by WUST for a number of superconductivity-based accelerator projects. The PRD prototype is of the re-closing design type and comprise the O-ring sealed flap that seals to the seat by the spring. The paper presents the detailed design of the PRD prototype, description of the test stand for PRD reliving capacity determination and exemplary measurement results of the PRD prototype for different compressions of the sealing spring. Based on the proposed theoretical background and obtained experimental data, the procedure for the sprig-loaded PRD sizing is provided.
