Experimental investigation on the performance of commercial freezers using refrigerant HC-600a.

Summary

The paper presents a comparative experimental study on the performance of HC-600a and HFC-134a in commercial freezers. One chest freezer, a 170 liters bottle cooler/ice cream cabinet, was tested and evaluated. Pull down and energy consumption tests were performed for the original HFC-134a unit, and for a HC-600a prototype. Results of the tests show that the HC-600a prototype achieved a lower internal temperature and had a lower energy consumption.
