Summary

PRIMARY CULTURES OF KIDNEY CORTEX CELLS WERE PREPARED FROM BABY RABBITS, SUSPENDED IN 0, 2, OR 4 M GLYCEROL SOLUTIONS, AND FROZEN ON THE STAGE OF A CRYOMICROSCOPE AT CONSTANT COOLING RATES. MEASUREMENTS OF POST-THAW SURVIVAL DEFINED A RANGE OF OPTIMAL COOLING RATES WITH CRYOPHYLACTIC ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH INCREASED GLYCEROL CONCENTRATION.
