Summary

IN FRANCE, THERE ARE IN VARIOUS AREAS, IN THE PARIS BASIN IN PARTICULAR, GEOTHERMAL LAYERS AT LOW TEMPERATURE, LOWER THAN 373 K (100 DEG C). THEIR EXPLOITATION CAN BE IMPROVED BY THE USE OF HEAT PUMPS WHICH ENABLE TO INCREASE THEIR TEMPERATURE AND/ORTO REDUCE THE TEMPERATURE AT WHICH GEOTHERMAL WATER IS REJECTED ; THE CHOICE OF GAS ENGINE, OWING TO HEAT RECOVERY ON THE DISCHARGE GASES AND THE COOLING OF THE ENGINE, RESULTS IN VERY HIGH EFFICIENCY. A UNIT IS BEING SET UP AT BEAUVAIS WITH GEOTHERMAL WATER AT 318 K (45 DEG C) WHICH WILL BE USED AS A COLD SOURCE FOR THREE GAS ENGINE DRIVEN HEAT PUMPS FOR THE SPACE HEATING OF 1,100 HOUSING UNITS IN PARTICULAR.
