Summary

REACTING TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS, THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT ON MARCH 22, 1991, ADOPTED NEW REGULATIONS OVER CFCS AND PROCESSES AND PRODUCTS SUCH AS REFRIGERANTS AND FOAMS, SOLVENTS AND CLEANING AND EXTINGUISHING MATERIALS ARE COVERED. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE RESTRICTIONS ON THE OPERATION, MAINTENANCE AND SHUTTING-DOWN OF CERTAIN FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT, AND RESPONSIBILITY IS SET FOR ACCEPTING THEIR RETURN FOR DISPOSAL. SECTION 3 REQUIRES THAT: < MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONAL SHUT-DOWN OF EQUIPMENT CONTAINING (SPECIFIED) REFRIGERANTS OR EXTINGUISHING AGENTS, AS WELL AS THE ACCEPTANCE FOR DISPOSAL OF RELATED MATERIALS AND PREPARATIONS, MAY BE UNDERTAKEN ONLY BY QUALIFIED PERSONS IN SUITABLY EQUIPPED FACILITIES >. THE REGULATION DOES NOT STATE, HOWEVER, HOW QUALIFICATIONS CAN BE CERTIFIED.
